Gastritis is inflammation of the lining of the stomach.There are hypo- and hyperacid gastritis (that is, with high or low acidity).
As is known, the stomach produces hydrochloric acid, the content of which determines the type of gastritis.Diet plays a major role in the treatment of gastritis.
Basic diet rules
The main goal of the diet for gastritis is to adhere to a diet that ensures normal digestion.
The treatment schedule for gastritis (one day) should contain:
- 90-100 gr.protein (60% animal),
- 90-100 gr.fat (75% animal)
- 400-420 gr.carbohydrates.
Total energy value should be 2800-3000 kcal.
Dietary rules for gastritis
Power mode
First, you should follow a meal schedule (at the same time).Secondly, with gastritis, food should be fractional, 4-5 times a day, but at the same time it is necessary to avoid snacks (they trigger the secretion of "excess" gastric juice and reduce its production during breakfast / lunch / dinner, which interferes with the process of food processing and assimilation).
Reading while eating, watching TV and "eating on the run" should be excluded altogether.
Know the size
With gastritis, the saying "after eating there should be a little hunger" is more relevant than ever.
First, the feeling of fullness occurs only 10-15 minutes after eating, and, secondly, a full stomach cannot cope with its functions well, especially gastritis.
Chewing food
Chewing food for a long time (at least 25-30 seconds for each part) promotes a more thorough mechanical processing of food, which eases an aching stomach.In addition, hunger in this case is satisfied faster (which prevents overeating).
Refusal of complex dishes
The menu for gastritis should consist of simple but varied dishes.A large number of ingredients in cooking make it difficult for the stomach to digest.
Rest after eating
After each meal, you need to rest for 15-20 minutes (not necessarily sleep).You can read a book or listen to music.
Prohibited foods for gastritis
With increased acidity

For gastritis with increased production of hydrochloric acid, the diet should be aimed at reducing the formation of gastric juice.Therefore, the principle of the treatment schedule consists of 3 points:
- mechanical– avoid eating food with coarse fiber (bran bread, turnips, turnips, "old" meat);
- chemistry– prohibition of foods that increase the production of gastric juice (alcohol, coffee, white cabbage, citrus fruits, sour fruits and berries, strong soups);
- terms– do not eat too cold or, on the contrary, hot food (optimal temperature 50 degrees).
Prohibited foods for hyperacid gastritis:
- fresh bread, especially warm, pastries made from butter and puff pastry;
- cereals: pearl barley, legumes, cereals, barley, corn (coarse fiber);
- rich meat and fish soups, okroshka, borscht, mushroom soup (contains many extractive substances that stimulate the production of gastric juices);
- fatty and stringy types of any meat: duck, chicken, pork, smoked meat (they are difficult to digest in the stomach and increase the formation of hydrochloric acid);
- fatty and salty fish (causes the formation of gastric juice);
- fermented milk products (all types of sharp cheese, limited to sour cream);
- vegetables: rutabaga, turnips, turnips, sorrel, spinach, canned vegetables (coarse fiber), as well as shallots and garlic, especially raw (stimulates the gastric glands in the mucous membrane);
- sweets: sour fruits and berries, unripe fruits, chocolate, dried fruits (coarse fiber, increased acidity);
- spices: mustard, pepper, horseradish (stimulates the production of hydrochloric acid);
- carbonated drinks, kvass, coffee (stimulates the release of hydrochloric acid, increases gas formation, causes heartburn);
- fried and hard-boiled eggs, animal fat (except butter).
Gastritis with low acidity
The aim of the diet for gastritis with low acidity is to stimulate (moderately) the production of gastric juice.Food should be taken after the secretion of hydrochloric acid begins, that is, in the first phase (advertising or programs about food, beautiful pictures of food, "tasty" conversations can trigger the release of gastric juice).
Prohibited foods for hypoacid gastritis:
- fresh bread, rich pastries ("heavy" food for the stomach, making chemical and mechanical processing difficult);
- restriction of pearl barley, legumes, cereals;
- fatty meat, meat with fascia (film), canned food, smoked meat (insufficient mechanical processing of food, excessive release of hydrochloric acid);
- fatty and salty fish;
- vegetables and fruits with coarse fiber (white cabbage, radish, turnip, cucumber, bell pepper), mushrooms;
- berries with grain or thick skin (raspberries, strawberries, red currants, gooseberries, figs);
- sharp and salty cheese, milk - neutralizes hydrochloric acid;
- pork, beef, goat fat and fat (indigestible due to low production of hydrochloric acid, food that is difficult to digest);
- spices and spices (irritating the gastric mucosa), as well as chocolate, grape juice, alcohol;
Legal Products
With increased acidity

Allowed and recommended products and dishes for gastritis with increased acid formation should neutralize the high content of hydrochloric acid in the stomach and facilitate digestion in the stomach (mashed dishes, liquid porridge, boiled meat, fish and chicken).
Allowed products for hyperacid gastritis:
- "yesterday" or dry bread, crackers, dry biscuits (biscuits);
- pureed vegetable puree (carrots, potatoes, beets, cauliflower), peeled tomatoes;

- sweet products: milk cream, marshmallows, marshmallows, honey (drinking honey water 1.5-2 hours before eating reduces acidity in the stomach, has a healing and immunostimulating effect);
- butter (natural and ghee), vegetable oil (contains vitamin E, which neutralizes hydrochloric acid);
- types of lean meat and poultry (beef, beef without tendons and fascia, "white" chicken meat);
- milk, cream, low-fat cottage cheese (antacid - anti-heartburn effect, lining the gastric mucosa, neutralizing gastric juice);
- river fish (contains a large amount of unsaturated fat, which normalizes the function of the digestive tract) in cut or steamed form, boiled;
- seafood;
- parsley and dill, vanillin and cinnamon in small quantities to stimulate the appetite;
- soft-boiled eggs or steamed omelettes (preferably white);
- cabbage, potato, carrot juice (or mixture) - antacid effect, high vitamin U content - anti-ulcer factor;
- decoction of rosehip (a lot of vitamin C, which has a healing effect and stimulates appetite), weak tea or coffee with milk, cocoa, mineral water (removal of toxins).
With low acidity
Products recommended to eat for gastric with low acidity should stimulate the production of hydrochloric acid.Eating should coincide with the beginning of the release of gastric juice.
Allowed products for hypoacid gastritis:
- dry bread, crackers, baked goods;
- porridge with water or liquid milk, cooked well, liquid, also steamed and cut meatballs, pudding, souffle;

The need to follow a diet
There is no drug that can completely cure acute gastritis or lead to stable remission in the presence of chronic gastritis.
All advertised drugs, available to everyone, are sold without a prescription in pharmacies.But they only eliminate (temporarily) unpleasant symptoms (heartburn, pain, belching).
Following a diet for gastritis not only makes life easier for the patient, but also disciplines the person.
The treatment schedule for gastritis is complete and healthy food, normalization of lifestyle, rejection of bad habits and low-quality products.In addition, a diet for gastritis helps normalize body weight (those who lose weight will gain weight, and overweight people will lose weight), because timely and nutritious nutrition not only normalizes the function of the gastrointestinal tract, but also all metabolic processes, and, as a result, strengthens the immune system.
Consequences of not following a diet

If you refuse to follow a diet for any type of gastritis, the patient may face the following problems:
- vitamin deficiency;
- diseases of the liver, pancreas, duodenum, large and small intestine (as a result of impaired stomach function);
- significant weight loss (fear of eating);
- peptic ulcer disease and its consequences: ulcer penetration, ulcer penetration - proliferation into organs, bleeding;
- formation of atrophic gastritis and its transformation into stomach cancer.
